He was part of the lower class.

He was poor.

He hung out with lowly people, sinners and disreputable sorts.

He ate with them.

He didn’t rub elbows with the aristocracy.

He was innocent, yet the government of his time brought charges against him.

He was hunted, arrested, and sentenced to death.

His mother could do nothing but watch as governmental authorities murdered her son…

Without reason

Many people cheered and called it justice.

Others were horrified.

Sound familiar?

This is one part of the story of Jesus.

    1. Good morning. I was hoping, when I wrote this post, that it would strike a note of familiarity with the reader. I wanted readers to see the similarities between unjust government then and unjust government now. I wanted the reader to remember that unjustified slaying by authorities isn’t something new. It’s been happening for a long time.
      For the ex-cons who read this, especially if they were innocent or sentenced too harshly, I want them to keep their heads up and recognize that what happened to them has happened to millions of others, being persecuted for hidden reasons. It happened to Jesus, so they’re in good company.
      Of course, while there are similarities between parts of Jesus’ story and those who are persecuted and hunted down today, there are also differences, I mean, HE was the world’s savior. I was hoping the similarities would pique a reader’s interest and maybe spark a desire to learn more about Jesus.

  3. Thanks for visit. He truly was one of us .. Today and Yesterday and as God is the Word in all of us he had a plan from the past and the future and just because we believe in a religious God or God of the Father which is my path and has been since l read verse .. That for me started my journey … Man can not live by bread alone but every word that comes from God .. I was 14 and my Sunday school was closing and not until many years later did l ever read the bible again … But always wanted those words to be the truth and now l provide the news and the truth … Which is hard today as its too much fake or fiction but rarely as l find is non-fiction but it’s still the word … Corrupted or not .. Ian 🙏

    1. You’re welcome. I thank you as well. My blog is about my time inside but it’s also about my relationship with God. Not all of my posts, but a majority of them, are fused with my experiences with, understanding of, and respect for Christianity and God’s word. I’d always heard God’s word growing up, so I knew OF Him, but my real journey began in a jail cell. It was the first time that I delved into the bible with the intention of finding answers. My hope is always a greater kinship with Him. My desire is to walk more and more in His ways. There’s a saying I remember from inside: “Slow progress is better than no progress.” I’ll take it.

  4. Absolutely heartfelt! Christ comes to us, we don’t go to Him, and He meets us when we are at the end of our wretched selves . . . . empty, with nowhere to go, but so naturally to Him. Many are called, but few are chosen. He prepared and gifts His children to set “us” free and comfort others.

    May God’s grace be visible to you. Only those who know Him see His timing and grace, silently in their presence face-to-face.

    1. Thank you so much for taking time to read and comment. Sometimes it’s a rough road but we’re comforted by the fact that “all things God works for the good of those who love God, who have been called according to His purpose.”
      I don’t exactly know how to sign up for the email alerts, just being honest. I’m new at this wordpress blog thing too, kind of new I guess. I started dabbling with it in february. Anyway, I will have to get back to you soon with a much better answer for that.

  5. You’re welcome. Thank God that He connected us! I can remember you because I use this awful phrase “White on Rice”. If you read about my upbringing, I’m from the first international, interracial couple in a narrow minded town. I figured it’s better than “flies on dog do-do”.

      Yes, I read some of your writing. I recall reading that, about you being born of the first interracial, international couple in your town. Though I’m certain it came with its fair share of hardships, your story is fascinating.

  10. Thanks for following my blog. Nice to meet you. I habpve a very personal relationship with the Creator but it is far removed from mainstram religion. I know many very loving folks who live their lives in the way of the Christ mind, but too many calling themselves Christians are so far from the teachings of Jesus that I fear would he walk the Earth today they would be right up front for a new crucifixion. Just my thoughts but I see a lot of pride, judgment and separatism in religion that he directly taught against. Like I always say to people, Jesus was not a Christian. Peace and all my best to you in your life.

      “many will say, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ (Matthew 7:22-23)
      The bible also states “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27)

      And yes, Jesus was not a Christian. He was The Christ.

    2. I realized I just responded with bible scriptures but no explanation. The first scripture (Matthew 7:22-23) was just a scripture I thought went well with your statement that “many calling themselves Christians are so far from the teachings of Jesus.” I agree with that statement. Not everyone who claims Christianity is a Christian.
      The second scripture (John 10:27) was just to build upon the first. There are those who know His voice, and those who don’t. It’s not as complicated as many people make it out to be.

      1. Sadly, some who hear his voice don’t understand the true message. The parables’ deeper meaningas thusly turned into weapons and excuses for inflicting pain. Such simple truths, so universal. Why is it so hard for humans to just ‘be’? Blessings to you as well.

  13. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. – John 15:13. His love and all that he endured and overcame for us is so amazing. There’s a song by Hillsong United called “Love is War” that is on continual repeat for me right now. You should check it out.

      I wasn’t familiar with that song by Hillsong United, but I just listened to it. I will definitely add it to my playlist. Thanks. There is another song that I like by Hillsong Worship, which I believe is another singing group out of the same church, anyway the song is called “What A Beautiful Name.” You’re probably familiar with it.

      1. “What a Beautiful Name” is one of my favs! Hillsong Worship is another group that comes out of Hillsong Church. A couple years ago, the group, the senior pastor and his wife came to my church (they don’t come to the states often) for a concert and it was phenomenal! They’ve got great, scriptially sound, Holy Spirit inspired music that I’ve been a huge fan of for the last 20 years. If you ever hear that they’re coming to the area you live in, I would say GO!

      2. Yes, great song! Ok, if I hear of Hillsong coming to perform in my area I will make a serious effort to go see them. I do believe that they’re worth watching because I do like the few songs of theirs that I know about. I hadn’t known that they’ve been around for 20 years though. That’s awesome.
